As a ministry of Building Hope in the City Transform 216 has partnered with Gateway Leadership Initiative to create this website as an online environment to help potential planters discover their aptitude and readiness for church planting quickly and easily.

THE CHURCH IS THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF CHRIST IN THE COMMUNITY. BY PLANTING HEALTHY URBAN CHURCHES, NEIGHBORHOODS WILL BE EMPOWERED TO TRANSFORM IN VISIBLE WAYS. WE STRIVE TO PLANT AS MANY CHURCHES AS POSSIBLE AMONG DIVERSE URBAN CULTURES.
OUR COMMITMENT
School of Urban Church Planting
Transform 216 trains, equips, encourages, and supports Christian workers in Cleveland and beyond to plant healthy, reproducing churches among in urban communities. Our training specifically equips teams to reach under-resourced communities. Planting Teams receive coaching by seasoned urban church planters who assist in developing a plan for your new church’s structure, services, outreaches, finances, discipleship and leadership development.
We train leaders from the city for leadership to the city
God is preparing men and women from our city to be leaders like none we’ve seen before! These disciples love the Lord, know their culture, neighborhood and community like the back of their hand. The challenges of communicating the Gospel across “barriers” of race, culture, language and economics disappear when we equip local disciples to lead! The most important thing the Church can do is see, legitimize, equip and support the city leaders God already has in mind!
Training that respects your tradition and doctrine
BHITC and its partners believe churches must retain the doctrinal distinctives in the city church plants they support or sponsor. Our “Bootcamp training” focuses on the essential beliefs that unify all Christians, as well as practical know-how in launching a new church.
Church planting to unify and renew the church in the city
City church plants are a good thing, but we also believe that they need to be connected to the many existing and long-faithful congregations in our community. Whether you’re the leader of an existing city congregation in the city, or will be planting something new, join in the citywide planning and prayer conversations with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Gateway Leadership Initiative
Gateway Leadership Initiative's vision is to mobilize thousands of leaders to start new churches out of the culture - churches molded from messy people rising up out of the culture to become the Body of Christ. Our efforts are focused on:- Inspiring leaders to start new churches out of the culture.
- Discovering leaders with the ability and experience needed for church planting.
- Equipping leaders for starting new churches formed out of the culture.
- Multiplying new churches as part of the reproducing movement.
